Reflections

After an extended period of experimentation and redesign, the final visual outcome of Gluconomy reflects a thoughtful balance between creativity and practicality. Although there are aspects that could be further refined, the designs produced within the limited timeframe successfully communicate the intended candy and economy themes in a clear and engaging way.

My main responsibilities in this project focused on the visual direction of the game. I contributed to the art direction, logo design, power card drafts and partial final designs, as well as the creation of icons for the board layout. Throughout the process, my goal was to ensure that the visuals were playful yet readable, supporting both the learning objectives and gameplay experience.

For the art direction, I explored various colour palettes, shapes, and styles to achieve a “candy + economy” identity without making the game appear overly childish or too serious. Not all ideas worked as expected, but these explorations helped me better understand how consistency and thematic coherence could be maintained across different components.

I also refined the logo and power card layouts by experimenting with visual hierarchy, icon placement, and low opacity patterns to enhance clarity during gameplay. Through this experience, I strengthened my skills in art direction and visual communication. Overall, I am proud of the final designs, as they contribute to a cohesive and engaging identity for Gluconomy despite time constraints.
