Task 2: Project Proposal

Lists

Instructions

Task :

  • Come up with an experience design project from a subject/topic of their choice. This can be anything from screen experience to physical space experience.
  • Create a professional experience design proposal document that explains their project idea and how will the experience be for the user.
  • The proposal should contain analysis of the current experience, comparison with similar solutions and how it can be better, Sketches to visualize the experience, Mock design of how the final outcome should be from the user’s perspective.

Ideation Process

This task begins by gathering some ideas for our project. Me and my partner Jun Ming we gathered 6 ideas for this project.

Working Process

And after getting feedback from Mr. Razif and by our own interest, We decide to work on our second idea which is AR Music but not really a music box we will make variation about that.
Mr. Razif is there to give us the structure of the proposal at TIMES and we can use it as a reference. I then formulate the goals or aims of my project. The following are the aims/goals of my project:
  • Improve how users learn by making it more fun and engaging.
  • Help users understand what they study easily
  • Facilitate collaborative learning experiences by allowing children to engage in shared AR activities
The next part is the research and the first thing I did is to create a user persona. We created 3 user personas. Each of them comes with different need and has different challenges and goals as well. The following is the user persona that we created:

Then I created a user journey map based on my idea. I want to create a user journey which learning during the last class. I created my user journey map using FigJam and the following are the results.

And I also form a table in Google doc to make it more clear.

Then after creating a user journey map and existing problems, we have to make a proposed solution. The following is a table of proposed solutions to problems in the user journey map.

After that, we need to create a new user journey map. This new user journey map is the user journey when you want to learn to use applications from my project idea. The following is a new user journey map.

Next, we also need to create a visualization or mock up of our application. I used Figma to create it. and also try out the prototype to make sure how it look like in a real app.
After that I opened Figma and designed a mock up there. There are several pages that I created for the mock up and this is the result.

After that I sorted out which pages I would include in the proposal and the contents were the results along with the short explanation.

Creative Direction

Move to the creative direction section. We need to choose a color palette/ theme, typography, and iconography and create a mood board for our application.

Color Palette / Theme:

This color palette was chosen to reflect the creative, immersive nature of the AR music experience. The vibrant purples evoke imagination and align with modern music and tech aesthetics, while the deep tones like Dark lavender blue(#2C2750) and Charcoal Black(#1E1E1E) provides contrast and moodiness, enhancing visual depth. Soft accents like Soft Vanilla (#FFFDF4) ensures readability and balance. Together, the palette captures the feeling of digital concerts and genre-based environments, making the interface feel expressive, futuristic, and engaging—perfect for users seeking a personalized and visually rich music experience.

Typography:

We chose Inter for its modern, clean, and highly readable design—ideal for digital interfaces and immersive AR experiences. Designed specifically for screen use, Inter offers excellent legibility across different sizes and resolutions, making it perfect for displaying 3D lyrics, menu options, and real-time interactions in the AR music app. Its multiple weights (Bold, Medium, Regular, Light) allow flexible hierarchy and visual contrast, supporting both expressive headlines and comfortable body text. Overall, Inter reflects the app’s tech-forward, youth-friendly, and user-centric design style.

Iconography:

We chose this icon set for its clean, modern style and high readability, ensuring intuitive navigation and a consistent look that fits the app’s immersive music experience.

Reflections

I found this module is a bit challenging for me, because I having too less knowledge about how much the AR can work well in the Unity. From what I saw from my senior previous project I feel a bit concerned about the challenge I will face in the project. I found out it might be a bit tough for testing in this module.

For task 2, however, I made an effort to come up with an idea that would not only solve possible problems in the future but also be interesting. I discovered that I was continuously going back and changing my ideas and even change the whole idea from AR music box to AR music combining with AR Image Recognition Showcase. It will be a challenging idea but it will also improve a lots for my unity skill.

Mr. Razif's feedback turned out to be very helpful and important. It mention the areas that needed development and provided suggestions for how to strengthen my ideas. His advice and thoughts helped me develop my strategy and improve my idea. My Goal is to successfully apply my ideas to my project and create a balanced between creatively and usability.
